Richard Ronk Passes Away at Age 78

Richard Ronk was born on August 26, 1933 in Omaha, Nebraska to Paul and Teresa Deluhery Ronk and passed away at home on December 18, 2011. He graduated from Crieghton Prep and Crieghton University in Omaha. On February 27, 1960, Richard and Mary Dolan were married in St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Omaha. Mr. Ronk a charter member of the Senior Executive Service, retired from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1994 as Director of the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition. He worked more than 43 years with the Federal government, some 38 with the FDA and 5 with the U.S. Postal Office. Mr. Ronk died December 18, 2011 at his home in Fairfax. The funeral was held December 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Historic Church in Fairfax Station, VA. Father James Barkett officiated. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetary, Worthington, Minnesota.
Mr. Ronk is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; his children, Jane Arrington (Gregg), Greensboro, NC. Theresa Ronk, Sterling, VA and Paul Ronk, Fairfax, VA, two grandsons, Nathan Arrington and John Arrington, Greensboro, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Rosemary Ronk, RSM, Rita Mitchell, and brother Michael Ronk.
