The Food and Drug Administration Alumni Association, Inc., is an educational, service-oriented organization founded in 2001 by a group of FDA retirees and employees. The non-profit, non-lobbying organization is legally incorporated in the State of Maryland and has tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service. The Association also has a collaborative relationship with FDA under a Memorandum of Understanding.
What is the purpose of the FDAAA?The Association helps FDA alumni stay up-to-date with major scientific and public health issues facing FDA and stay connected with each other through educational and other events and a variety of volunteer service projects. These activities enable alumni to continue to support FDA’s vital mission and stay active in efforts to improve public health throughout the United States and the world.
Who runs the organization?FDAAA is run by six officers and a 12-member Board of Directors, in accordance with formal By-Laws. Associate Members have non-voting representation on the Board to ensure their interests are adequately represented. Five standing committees (Activities, Communications, Finance, Membership and Nominating) have responsibility for helping set policy; design and manage member programs, activities and services; and chart future directions for the organization.
Who can join? All former and current FDA employees are eligible to join FDAAA. Non-FDAers who have made major contributions to the mission of FDA can become Honorary Members. People who make financial or other contributions to FDAAA and are not directly associated with FDA are designated as Friends.
How can I sign up?Complete a membership application and make a tax-deductible annual dues payment: $35 for Alumni Members (former FDA employees), $20 for Associate Members (current employees). Applications can be obtained from FDAAA’s website or by contacting:
