Reasons to Join the FDAAA

Here are eight (8) good reasons to join:

1. Have the opportunity to shape a rapidly developing organization.

FDAAA is relatively new organization. There’s an opportunity to make of it what you want. Create a project and work directly with FDA on it. Help select nominees for FDA awards. Coordinate an educational event. The scope is limitless.

2. Keep up to date on FDA issue.

FDAAA events have featured speeches by FDA Commissioners and other high level government officials There’s no better way to keep up to date than to hear about FDA from the present senior staff. All FDAAA events will feature an educational component so that you can not only meet and greet, but also learn.

3. Have the opportunity to participate in worthy project and give back to FDA.

FDA is an important agency that is beloved by its former and current employees. This is a chance to give back, at your own pace and as a volunteer, what you got from being a part of this great institution. FDAAA’s Activities Committee already has volunteers who want to work with FDA on international and counterterrorism issues. Virtually any project that supports FDA in some way can be created. You can serve on a committee or head a project. FDA’s leadership is actively interested in soliciting the guidance and support of alumni.

4. Keep in touch with former colleagues and friends.

FDAAA will sponsor events throughout the year where you will have the opportunity to socialize with former colleagues and friends. Even before it was officially launched, FDAAA held several lunches and a Saturday-night wine-tasting. At all these events, speakers from the FDA briefed us on the Agency’s latest activities. More importantly, old friends reconnected and new friendships were made.

5. Be part of an exclusive club.

Not everyone can belong. Only FDA retirees and current employees can belong to FDAAA. We all understand the FDA commitment, mission and culture. It’s good to belong to a club where there’s such a basic common understanding..

6. It’s not expensive to join.

You can’t join many organizations for $35 a year ($20 for current employees). A lifetime membership is available for a one-time fee of $300.

7. You can proudly wear your FDAAA lapel pin

You can display your FDAAA membership pin wherever and whenever you want. Flash it at the guard at your local FDA office and just watch how quickly you get through security. (Same as everyone else, but it will seem faster.)

8. Get Periodic Updates and Value Information on the FDAAA Web Site.

You will receive frequent “FDAAA Updates” by email alerting you to upcoming events, names of new members, interesting work opportunities, Agency activities and general announcements of interest. The web site serves as a repository of valuable information of Association matters and provides tools to keep members in touch with one another.
